Building Community – Rake Up Boise!

For almost 50 years Hawkins has been part of the community here in Boise. And if you know anything about the Treasure Valley, you know that we are fortunate to have incredible outdoor opportunities. Some are able to walk out our back doors and reach the local hiking/biking trails of Hulls Gulch, the Military Reserve, or Table Rock, and others have a short drive up to Bogus Basin for some fresh powder. We also have Lucky Peak close by for swimming, boating, or waterskiing. While others, the Fall and Winter months can be a challenging time.

Not to worry! Rake Up Boise has been enlisting volunteers as a true celebration of the community spirit with their main goal of helping residents in the “City of Trees” to complete their fall cleanup. For over 36 years Rake Up Boise has been matching residents with volunteers to help them pick up leaves. So many leaves. Hawkins Companies has been a proud volunteer supporter with this organization for 16 years now. That is a shining example of the power of community.

The primary task is to rake up all the leaves and get them into bags, however some volunteers go above and beyond by helping with additional small tasks such as trimming bushes or clearing gutters. Volunteers make sure the yards are safer and more comfortable for those in need and making them ready for the winter months!

Rake Up Boise remains a beloved tradition here in the Treasure Valley that helps strengthen our community and shows neighborly love, and one that Hawkins is proud to be a part of year after year. Whether you’re a longtime volunteer or you are considering your first event, I highly recommend it as a meaningful way to connect with your neighbors and one that you won’t soon forget. Together we can keep Boise beautiful!
