Boise Goathead Fest & The Vision for a Goathead Free Boise

Boise Goathead Fest celebrates its second year bringing pedal power to the people!

I remember moving back to Boise in 2010 after college and working a part time job making chandeliers. We shared an alleyway with a newly moved in non-profit that promised to bring a bike-oriented community cooperative to Boise. Jimmy Hallyburton introduced himself as our new neighbor and gave us a tour of the BBP shop. I had some “Project” bikes in my garage at the time and ended up donating some frames/parts over the next few years. As my part time gig came to an end, my relationship with the Boise Bike Project would continue. Friends and family had a place to go to ask their important cycling questions and become part of the bike project.

Fast forward 6 years, Boiseans come to find out that Tour De Fat will no longer be. For many it was a hard hit to take but Boise Bike Project seized the moment to do something bold, fill the void of this nationally touring festival with something local. Boise Goathead fest was born! This year celebrated the 2nd Annual Boise Goathead Fest, which brings in donations for many local cycling nonprofits here in the Treasure Valley. It also brings in other community organizations like Radio Boise or Boise Rock School & highlights local businesses and sponsors that wish to see a goat head free Boise. Local food trucks rally, and local breweries pour for a great cause. Local and touring musicians, DJ’s and Dance commanders set the stage for a wonderful weekend in Boise.

We had the honor of being a small business sponsor this year & organized a group to participate in the parade Saturday morning, which looped for 2 miles through downtown Boise.
