Back-to-School – Spirit Week

By: Beth Brookhouse

Back-to-School and Spirit week is a pivotal time marking the transitioning from the carefree days of summer to the structured routines of academic life. Exciting for some, not so exciting for others! Remember those days shopping for new school clothes and then new school supplies? Those days were filled with both excitement and apprehension. For the students, the excitement of seeing all your friends and favorite teachers, to getting back into the routine of the coming school year. Then the apprehension of not knowing what to expect from the new classes or the teachers. For parents, it is a welcome relief for the organized structure of schedules that going back to school brings, along with everyone adjusting to the early mornings of hustle and bustle to get out the door each morning, until the new routine settles in.

At Hawkins, we not only embrace Back-to-School week but also celebrate Spirit week! Each day brings a new challenge tied to the theme of the day. This year we had Hat Day, 80’s Day, Crazy Hair Day, Hawaiian Day, and Sports Day. Super fun week to add a little more fun to our days and to embrace the spirit of days gone by.

Back-to-School and Spirit week has always symbolized the end of one chapter and the beginning of another, filled with opportunities for knowledge and education. Hopefully, as you work together to navigate the transition, you lay the groundwork for a productive and fulfilling school year.
